Announcement of the Permanent Abolishment of the Myanmar Oversea Employment Agency Association -MOEAA (Myanmar Overseas Employment Agency Federation (MOEAF) (former name)), which is cooperating with the Terrorist Military Junta
1. The Ministry of Labour of the National Unity Government has repetitively urged and invited local and overseas employment agencies to engage in Myanmar’s democracy revolution and support NUG while protecting workers. However, it is obviously seen that Myanmar Oversea Employment Agency Association – MOEAA (Myanmar Overseas Employment Agency Federation (MOEAF) (former name)) has failed to prevent its member agencies from engaging in several illegal activities, including exploiting workers through excessive service fees, failing to send workers to the agreed-upon workplaces, and neglecting to address labour rights violations. Additionally, the MOEAA is actively collaborating with the military junta, perpetuating the dictatorship and contributing to human rights abuses, genocide and war crimes against humanity. To meet the military council’s urgent need for foreign currency, MOEAA is actively enforcing arbitrary orders such as collecting income tax (double taxation) on Myanmar migrant workers’ hard-earned wages and forcing them to remit 25% of their wages to their families via the junta-specified channels. Knowing that the foreign currency flowing to the Military Council is primarily used to import aircraft fuel for air attacks on civilian populations and to purchase weapons and ammunition, it has been confirmed that they are actively collaborating to hand over the money to the junta as blood money while ignoring the people’s plight.
2. For the reasons above, the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agency Association – MOEAA (Myanmar Overseas Employment Agency Association (MOEAF) (former name), which actively collaborates with the terrorist military to maintain the dictatorship while failing to protect Myanmar workers, is declared an illegal association and permanently abolished.
3. Any overseas employment agency found to be: exploiting migrant workers through excessive fees, failing to send workers to their agreed-upon workplaces, ignoring timely resolution of labour rights violations, or complicit in forced taxation or channeling remittances to benefit the junta, will be blacklisted and face prosecution under the Counter Terrorism Law.
