Statement of National Unity Consultative Council on 3rd Anniversary of Spring Revolution

  1. The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and its member organizations express deep appreciation for the committed endeavors of the National Unity Government (NUG); elected parliamentarians who oppose the junta; the defensive efforts by the people defense forces across the country; ethnic revolutionary organizations who have demonstrated their collaborative resistance and firm determination; the remarkable civil resistance with the perseverance and courage of strike forces, labor unions, student unions, women groups and LGBIQIAs community; supports and encouragements from the Myanmar ethnic society from abroad; sacrificed participation of the sacrifices made by CDMers in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM); and the incredible supports and resolute backing of the whole society of Myanmar ethnic on Spring Revolution.
  2. Today, the third anniversary of the spring revolution marks the failure of military terrorist group, resulting in deaths, injuries, high defection rates, group surrender, and fleeing to neighboring countries. It shows the actual collapse of the military from several perspectives.
  3. Due to a lack of public support, the military terrorist group is facing the failure militarily, politically, diplomatically, and economically, and already in the condition with impossible for them to stand back.
  4. Revolutionary forces agree that that eliminating all forms of dictatorship, including military dictatorship, is a pathway to sustainable peace, development for the entire public with the guarantee of equality, and the establishment of the desired Federal Democratic Union.
  5. We have seen the dawn of success today with the acceleration of revolution, and it is now the time for all the revolutionary forces to push with collective efforts from all aspects to achieve success. All the revolutionary forces realize that freedom for the entire nation is will only effective than freedom for a single entity.
  6. The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) plans to hold a second people’s assembly in March 2024 to endorse policies, strategies, and action plans to ensure the success of the spring revolution.
  7. The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) will continue its efforts to gain common political consensus among revolutionary forces according to the acceleration of revolution.
  8. NUCC will maintain its commitment for the development process of both transitional arrangements and transitional constitution in 2024.
  9. The significant challenges are waiting for us in the post-revolutionary transitional period, we would need to rebuild all the things which may have been collapsed because of the military. At the same time, we would need to convene a countrywide parliamentary session to draft the democratic federal constitution.
  10. The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) strongly urges neighboring nations, including India, China, Thailand, and ASEAN, to critically review their policies and strategies regarding Myanmar in regard to the current evolution of political and military situation.
  11. All those who sacrificed their lives for the spring revolution were recognized as martyrs of the country. We would want to express our deepest condolences for the sorrow caused by the murders and injuries of innocent civilians, the devastation of villages, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The perpetrators of such crimes will be subjected to no impunity, and we are committed to bringing transitional justice in accordance with the policy.
