Media Advisory Launch of a Briefing Paper “Blocked Aid, Unbroken People: Resisting Junta’s Aid Weaponization”

Progressive Voice, together with eight civil society organizations, will launch a follow-up briefing paper titled ‘Blocked Aid, Unbroken People: Resisting Junta’s Aid Weaponization’ on 22 July 2026. This new publication follows the August 2022 Briefing Paper, ‘Setting the Tinderbox Alight: The Humanitarian Crisis in Myanmar’s Dry Zone (Sagaing, Magwe, and Mandalay Regions).

Speakers will shed light on humanitarian crisis and diverse coping strategies for survival and resilience in Myanmar’s Dry Zone, particularly in the Sagaing, Magwe and Mandalay Regions. The participants will gain firsthand insight into the scale and impact of the humanitarian crisis on affected populations across these three areas. Discussions will focus and explore urgent humanitarian needs across the Dry Zone and examine locally led response mechanisms that have proven effective in reaching communities despite restrictions and blockades imposed by the Myanmar military. Additionally, the findings and recommendations from the briefing paper will be presented and discussed.
