People's Voices
This page is to ensure that the historic voices and actions of the Spring Revolution, which arose in response to the military's coup attempt in February 2021, are not left unheard or unknown. The Civil Disobedience Movement, general strikes, and all other respective inspirational movements are crucial struggles that must be heard, seen, understood, recognized, and supported widely at the local, national, and international levels. Therefore, this page highlights these inspirational voices from all walks of life and from all parts of Myanmar, regardless of ethnicity, religious background, sexual orientation, and gender identity. It also highlights the remarkable collective struggles of the people and inspiring stories of heroes during the Spring Revolution.
Since its coup attempt on 1 February 2021, the Myanmar military junta has been committing grave human rights violations against the people of Myanmar, amounting to crimes against humanity and war crimes. The ongoing impunity of the Myanmar military must end, and the brutal junta must be held accountable for its crimes. Here are just some of the crimes that the military junta is committing with total impunity in Myanmar as the people continue to resist: targeting of civilians using lethal force; shooting civilians on sight; extrajudicial killings; arbitrary arrests; detention and torture; forced labor; sexual violence; rape and gang rape; massacres; theft and looting; destruction of property; extortion; internet restrictions; muzzling of the press; violence against children; use of human shields; enforced disappearance; razing villages; shelling, bombing, and airstrikes; and the concealment and destruction of evidence of their crimes.

Progressive Voice is a participatory rights-based policy research and advocacy organization rooted in civil society, that maintains strong networks and relationships with grassroots organizations and community-based organizations throughout Myanmar. It acts as a bridge to the international community and international policymakers by amplifying voices from the ground, and advocating for a rights-based policy narrative.
