At A Glance On Armed Struggles (17 Apr – 23 Apr 2026)

During the reporting period, at least 113 incidents of civilian-targeted attacks were reported in 49 townships. During these incidents, at least 49 civilians were killed, 102 others were injured while 228 civilians were arbitrarily arrested. Of these incidents, the junta’s village raids were recorded as the highest with 45 incidents. Aerial attacks were recorded as the second highest with 22 incidents while drone attacks and artillery attacks were the third highest with 10 incidents each. Compared to the previous week, the number of civilian-targeted attacks increased.

The highest number of civilian casualties was reported in Sagaing Region, with 25 deaths and 36 injuries. Mandalay and Karen regions marked as the region with the second highest number of civilian casualties, recording at least 22 in total. The third highest region was Rakhine, with at least one death and 15 injuries.

Meanwhile, the highest number of civilian arrests was reported in Mandalay Region with 102 detainees during the reporting period. Sagaing Region recorded the second highest of civilian arrests with 70 detainees while Kachin was the third highest with 24 detainees.
