At A Glance On Armed Struggles (13Mar – 19 Mar 2026)

Between 13 and 19 March 2026, there were at least 205 incidents of military operations and civilian-targeted attacks across the country. Among them, at least 114 incidents were military operations and 91 incidents were civilian-targeted attacks.

On 17 March, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that the U.S. government intends to conduct cross-border operations to dismantle online scam syndicates operating along the borders of Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand. On 13 March, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar warned that the Myanmar crisis could worsen due to the diversion of global attention toward ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East in the UN Human Rights Council. The Special Rapporteur also urged the international community to conduct timely reviews to ensure the effectiveness of sanctions targeting the military junta and its associates, while also calling for a universal rejection of the regime’s sham election results. During the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on 13 March, the UK Ambassador characterized the junta-led elections as entirely lacking in freedom and fairness, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s continued support for the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus as the primary framework for addressing the Myanmar crisis.
