At A Glance on Armed Struggles (6 February – 12 February)

Between 6-12 February, there were at least 195 incidents of military operations and civilian-targeted attacks across the country. Among them, at least 67 incidents were military operations and 128 incidents were civilian-targeted attacks.

Following the conclusion of the sham elections, the Union Election Commission (UEC) under the military junta announced the names of 110 military representatives for the House of Representatives on 7 February and 56 military representatives for the House of Nationalities on 8 February. Meanwhile, the U.S. President Donald Trump extended the national emergency regarding Myanmar for another year, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Brave Burma Act on 9 February to restrict the junta’s access to jet fuel and target its affiliated businesses. Then, the National Unity Government (NUG) and ethnic revolutionary organizations discussed forming a Federal Steering Council (FSC) to facilitate political and administrative reforms at the union level in January, with the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) agreeing to cooperate. On 8 February, the NUG’s Ministry of Defense (MOD) announced the successful completion of a five-day meeting of People’s Defense Force (PDF) commanders.
