According to media reports between 26 December 2025 and 1 January 2026 at least 25 airstrikes targeting civilians were reported across seven regions. In these attacks, at least 27 civilians were killed, and 38 others were injured. Additionally, 32 airstrikes were reported during combat engagements between armed revolutionary forces and the military junta and also during attacks targeting armed revolutionary forces. It was reported that the military junta mainly used Mi-35 helicopters, Y-12 aircrafts, Yak-130, SU-30 and MIG-29 fighter jets in launching these attacks.
During the reporting period, both the number of airstrike incidents targeting civilians and the number of civilian casualties increased compared to the last week. Between 26 December 2025 and 1 January 2026, the majority of airstrikes targeting civilians committed by the military junta was reported in Sagaing, Magway, Rakhine and Chin regions. Due to the military’s airstrikes, one church was destroyed in Chin region.
In Sagaing Region, 11 airstrikes targeting civilians were reported in Banmauk, Budalin, Katha, Khin-U, Kyunhla, Wetlet and Tabayin townships. On 27 December, the military junta carried out an airstrike on a location in Khin-U township, using fighter jets and MI-35 helicopters. As a result, six male civilians, three female civilians, and 10 others were injured. In addition, on 29 December, the military junta conducted an airstrike with a fighter jet on a village in Wetlet township. Two female civilians were killed, one male civilian and three female civilians were injured.
In Magway Region, five airstrikes targeting civilians were reported in Myaing, Salin and Pauk townships. On 31 December, the military junta carried out an airstrike on a village in Myaing township, dropping two 500-lb bombs from a fighter jet. Two female civilians were killed, and four female civilians were injured, and three civilian houses were damaged.
In Rakhine Region, four airstrike incidents were reported in Maungdaw and Thandwe townships. On 29 December, the military junta conducted an airstrike on two wards in Thandwe township, bombing two 500-lbs bombs from the aircraft. As a result, two male civilians, three females and four children were killed. Additionally, nine male civilians, four female civilians and one child were injured, and 23 civilian houses were damaged by the airstrike.
In Chin Region, three airstrike incidents targeting civilians was reported in Falam and Kanpetlet township. On 28 December, the military junta carried out an airstrike using a fighter jet on a village in Falam township, damaging a total of 20 civilian houses and one Church.
