1. We, the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, welcomes the adoption of a resolution, at the plenary session of the 113th International Labour Conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 5, 2025, under Article (33) of the Constitution of the International Labour Organization to impose sanctions on the military junta’s council which has illegally seized power in Myanmar and committed serious human rights violations against country’s populations.
2. We firmly believe that this resolution will help to halt the terrorist military’s human rights violations, extrajudicial killings, air strikes on innocent civilians, burning down civilian homes, and forced military services. We also strongly urge member states to take swift and effective action, both individually and through coordinated efforts among member states, for the rapid end of the inhumane violence of the terrorist military junta and for the expeditious restoration of democracy in Myanmar as soon as possible.
3. We also consider this resolution as a step of the international community’s sympathy and willingness to contribute practical assistance to alleviate the numerous sufferings of the people of Myanmar. We hope that further efforts will be made in the near future. This is a right support for the speedy end of the military dictatorship and the restoration of democracy, justice and the swiftly establishment of civilian rule in Myanmar.
4. The continuation of undemocratically control of the country by the military junta, the impunity for their committed crimes, and delaying in taking timely action have led to the deterioration of the country’s situation, affecting many people from all walks of life, including workers. Therefore, we reiterate our call on the international community to impose increased political and economic sanctions to end the illegal military rule and their violence and to enable the people of Myanmar to enjoy democracy, freedom, and fundamental rights.
5. We, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw has actively involved in making international advocacy for the adoption of this resolution by the International Labor Organization to impose sanctions on the terrorist military group. This resolution was made possible through the efforts of leaders and individuals from all walks of life. We hereby issue this statement, earnestly urging to continue our efforts to build a peaceful federal democratic union where democratic and human rights values are flourished.
