Weekly Highlights

In the South-East, the number of IDPs increased from 339,000 a fortnight ago to 344,400 this week.

In Kayin State, fighting, airstrikes and shelling on 4 January near villages in Kyainseikgyi Township caused 90 people to be displaced to Hpa-An Township while 320 were displaced to Mon State’s Mawlamyine Township.

In Tanintharyi Region, forced relocations by security forces caused some 2,400 people to be displaced. Among them are 1,500 from villages in Palaw Township, and 920 from villages in Tanintharyi Township.
