Myanmar South East – Emergency Overview Map: Number of people displaced in South East since Feb 2021 and remain displaced (As of 02 January 2023)

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

In the South-East, the number of IDPs increased from 339,000 to 341,400 this week.

In Mon state, around 1850 IDPs were displaced to Billin township due to military reinforcement and indiscriminate shelling in the area.

In Tanintharyi Region, 2050 IDPs were verified in this week. Around 1350 were displaced to Palaw township 700 were displaced to Thayetchaung townships because of clashes in near by villages and tension in the area.

In Shan (South) State, 1405 IDPs were verified as returnees. They returned from Pekon Town to their respective villages in Pekon Township.
