Between 27 February and 5 March 2026, there were at least 199 incidents of military operations and civilian-targeted attacks across the country. Among them, at least 125 incidents were military operations and 74 incidents were civilian-targeted attacks.
Following the announcement by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on 24 February, regarding its collaboration with the Royal Thai Police to suppress online fraud operations in Southeast Asia, the FBI’s Bangkok office shared further updates on social media on 3 March highlighting its ongoing cooperation with regional partner organizations. These operations reportedly involve dismantling criminal networks, identifying victims, and specifically targeting and suppressing scam centers. Furthermore, the BRAVE Burma Act has been introduced to the U.S. Senate with the aim of imposing more stringent sanctions against the military junta, specifically targeting their violence and human rights abuses that exacerbate humanitarian disasters. The draft legislation includes measures to enforce harsher penalties on entities providing financial support to the junta’s business interests, block their funding streams, and counter the growing influence of China and Russia within Myanmar.
