Four years have passed since the military terrorists attempted the coup on February 1, 2021. Throughout these years, the military terrorists have continued to commit various forms of severe human rights violations that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. For women, due to the various forms of human rights violations that they face on a daily basis, including sexual violence, many have lost their lives. In June 2025 alone, 34 women have been killed. The reported data has been monitored and collected from reliable media sources and by Burmese Women’s Union (BWU). However, BWU encounters numerous obstacles when accessing data and information; therefore, the actual figures may be much higher on the ground.
Based on BWU data monitoring from various reliable media sources, (34) women were killed across the country in June 2025. Among them, (18) women were killed by military airstrikes, (11) women lost their lives due to the military artillery shelling that targeted civilian homes and villages, (2) woman died due to crossfire, (1) woman was extrajudicially killed by military terrorists, and (2) women were died by landmine. Among the (34) women who have been killed, (4) were under the age of 18. In addition, (49) women were wounded. Among them, (30) women were wounded due to aerial bombardment by the military, (14) women were injured by the military artillery shelling, (2) women were injured by crossfire, (1) woman was injured by landmine, (1) woman was injured physical toture and (1) woman was wounded by sexual gender based violence.
