On 7th April 2020, 7 civilians from Hnan Chaung village, Hna Ma Dar Village Tract, Paletwa Township were killed as Tatmadaw launched airstrikes targeting the village. Those killed include 2 children and a mother and infant. A further 8 civilians were injured and 8 houses were burned to the ground; 

“The fighting has been going on for some time in the area. There has even been fighting about half a kilometre away from Paletwa Town. Yesterday [7th April], the fighting between the two armed groups in Hnan Chuang was very intense. The Tatmadaw used fighter jets, that’s why so many people were killed. As of now, 7 people are dead and the 8 people who were injured are in Paletwa Town’s General Hospital,” said one community member who agreed to speak to CHRO on condition of anonymity.

According to an eye-witness who assisted the injured in reaching Paletwa to undergo medical care, 2 Tatmadaw jets bombed the village multiple times between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm, resulting in the deaths of the civilians. Fighting had been taking place in close vicinity to the village and in the surrounding hills for some days previously. Residents from Paletwa Town also informed CHRO they have been hearing gunfire and explosions from conflict on a daily basis;

“Heavy weaponry is being fired and the Tatmadaw use fighter jets, that’s why many people are killed, injured and houses have been burned down. We can hear gunfire and explosions from the town [Paletwa], we have also seen damage to some church roofs here in Paletwa Town.”

Those who were killed in the airstrikes have been named as; U Lin Phyu (38), Daw Aung Than (42), Maung Kyaw Naing Oo (13), Maung Lin Aung (16), and Daw Hawi New (40), Daw Ma Htun (19) and Aung Naing Lin (3). 

In a separate incident, on 2nd April 2020, U Pyi Tin (53) from Laungkadu village, Paletwa Township was hospitalized after stepping on a landmine. The incident took place at approximately 10 am when U Pyi Tin was returning from his farm, accompanied by a friend.

U Pyi Tin was on his way back after checking on his farming plot which had recently been cleared/burned as part of the traditional farming process of jhum cultivation (shifting cultivation). According to the Khumi Media Group, he was taken to Paletwa General Hospital from where he was later transferred to Mandalay General Hospital for treatment.

“ ဒီဒေသမှာ တိုက်ပွဲတွေ က ဖြစ်နေတာကြာပြီ ပလက်ဝမြို့ ပေါ်ကနေ (၃) ဖာလုံလောက်ပဲ ဝေးတဲ့ နေရာ မှာတောင် တိုက်ပွဲတွေ က ဖြစ်နေတာ။ (၇) ရက်နေ့ တုန်းက နှမ်းချောင်း မှာ ဖြစ်သွားတဲ့ တိုက်ပွဲ ဆိုရင် အရမ်းကို ပြင်းထန်တယ်။ တပ်မတော် က ဖိုက်တာ ဂျက်လေယာဉ် တွေ သုံးတယ်လေ။ အဲ့ဒါကြောင့်ပဲ ထိခိုက် သေဆုံးတဲ့သူများတာ။ ခုချိန်အထိဆိုရင် သေဆုံးတာ (၇) ယောက်၊ နောက် ပြင်းထန်စွာ ထိခိုက်ဒဏ်ရာရလို့. ပလက်၀ ဆေးရုံမှာ တင်ထားရတာက (၈) ယောက် ရှိတယ်” ဟု အမည်မဖော်လိုသူ ဒေသခံ တစ်ဦးမှ CHRO သို့ ပြောကြားသည်။

ထိခိုက်ဒဏ်ရာ ရရှိသူများအား ပလက်ဝဆေးရုံ သို့ ဆေးကုသမှု ခံယူရန် ကူညီပို့ ဆောင်ပေးသူမျက်မြင်သက်သေတစ်ဦး၏ ပြောကြားချက်အရ မြန်မာ့တပ်မတော်သည် ညနေ ၄း၃၀ နာရီ နှင့် ၆း၃၀ နာရီ ကြားတွင် လေကြောင်းမှ တိုက်ခိုက်မှု (၂) ကြိမ်ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ရာ ၎င်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုများကြောင့် ပင် ဒေသခံများ အသက်ဆုံးရှုံးခဲ့ကြရခြင်းဖြစ်သည် ဟုဆိုသည်။ အဆိုပါ ရက် မတိုင်မီ ရက်အနည်းငယ် ကတည်း ကပင် နှမ်းချောင်း ကျေးရွာ နှင့်

အနီးတစ်ဝိုက်တွင် တိုက်ပွဲများ ဖြစ်ပွားနေခဲ့သည်။ ပလက်၀ မြို့ မှ သတင်းရင်းမြစ်များ မှ CHRO အား ပြောပြချက် အရ ဒေသခံများသည် လက်ရှိဖြစ်ပွားနေ သည့် တိုက်ပွဲများမှ သေနတ်သံများ နှင့် လက်နက် ပေါက်ကွဲသံများ ကို နေ့ စဉ် ကြားနေရသည် ဟု ဆိုသည်။

“ လက်နက်ကြီးတွေ ပစ်ခတ်နေတာ ရှိနေပြီးတော့ တပ်မတော်က ဆိုရင် ဖိုက်တာဂျက်လေယာဉ်တွေ ပါ သုံးနေတယ်။။ ဒါ့ကြောင့်ပဲ လလာူတွေ သေဆုံးပြီး ဒဏ်ရာလည်းရ အိမ်တွေလည်း မီးလောင်ပြာကျ သွားတာ။ ပလက်ဝမြို့ ပေါ်ကနေ ကို သေနတ်သံ တွေ တခြားလက်နက် ပစ်ခတ်သံတွေ ကို ကြားနေကြရတယ်။ ပလက်၀ မြို့ ပေါ်က တချို့သော ဘုရားကျောင်းတွေ ရဲ့ ခေါင်မိုးတွေ တောင် ထိခိုက် ပျက်စီးတာကို တွေ့ နေရတယ်” ဟုလည်း ဒေသခံတစ်ဦးမှ CHRO အား ပြောကြားသည်။

တပ်မတော်မှ လေကြောင်း ပစ်ခတ်တိုက်ခိုက်မှု ကြောင့် သေဆုံးသွားရသူများမှာ ဦးလင်းဖြူ (၃၈ နှစ်) ၊ ဒေါ် အောင်သန်း (၄၂) နှစ်၊ မောင်ကျော်နိုင်ဦး (၁၃နှစ်) ၊ မောင်လင်းအောင် (၁၆)နှစ်၊ ဒေါ် ဟွေ့နူး (၄၀ နှစ်)၊ ဒေါ် မထွန်း (၁၉ နှစ်) နှင့် အောင်နိုင်လင်း (၃ နှစ်) တို့ ဖြစ်သည်။ 

အခြားသော ဖြစ်စဉ်တစ်ခုတွင် ၂၀၂၀ ခုနှစ်၊ ဧပြီလ (၂) ရက်နေ့ က ပလက်ဝမြို့ နယ် ၊လောင်ကဒူ ကျေးရွာ တွင်နေထိုင်သူ အသက် (၅၃) နှစ် အရွယ် ရှိ ဦးပြည်တင် ဆိုသူ သည် မြေမြှုပ်မိုင်း နင်းမိခြင်း ကြောင့် ဆေးရုံတင်ထားရသည်။ ဦးပြည်တင် သည် မိတ်ဆွေတစ်ဦး နှင့် အတူ ယာခင်းမှ အပြန် နံနက် ၁၀း၀၀ နာရီ ခန့် တွင် မိုင်းနင်းမိခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။ ဦးပြည်တင်သည် ရွှေ့ပြောင်းတောင်ယာ အနေဖြင့် ၎င်း ခုတ်ထွင်မီးရှို့ ရှင်းလင်းထားသည့် တောင်ယာကွက် ကို သွားရောက် စစ်ဆေးခဲ့ခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။ Khumi Media Group ၏ ထုတ်ပြန်ချက်အရ ၎င်းကို ပလက်၀ ဆေးရုံ သို့ တင်ဆောင်ရာ ဒဏ်ရာပြင်းထန်သည့် အတွက် မန္တလေး ဆေးရုံကြီးသို့ လွှဲ ပြောင်း ကုသမှုခံယူနေရကြောင်းသိရသည်။
