The National Unity Government solemnly commemorates the 7th anniversary of the crimes committed against the Rohingya people by the brutal military in 2017.
For decades, fascist ideologies, racial supremacy, systematic ethnic and religious discrimination, and military domination have brought disaster to all the ethnic people of the Union, including the Rohingya, by violating human rights and enslaving the population under successive military dictatorships.
Today, the people’s Spring Revolution aims to completely dismantle the military dictatorship and establish a true federal democracy. In this process, the revolution is also fighting to eliminate injustice, inequality, and ethnic and religious discrimination along with the military regime.
We honor and respect the Rohingya people who are participating in this revolution, fighting alongside the ethnic people across the Union.
During the current period of revolution, special attention must be given to the fact that the weakened terrorist military council is forcibly recruiting soldiers across the country, including from the vulnerable Rohingya population. Additionally, the military is exploiting civilians, particularly women, children, and the elderly, as human shields, spreading false information, and systematically inciting ethnic and religious conflicts. Therefore, all revolutionary forces must respond with caution and intelligence.
The National Unity Government pledges that, once the revolution succeeds and the transition period is reached, all possible avenues will be pursued to seek justice for the atrocities suffered by the people.
This revolution will pave the way for a new political system based on justice and fairness, which is the long-cherished aspiration of the people of Myanmar. We urge all citizens from various ethnic and religious backgrounds to unite and work together towards this goal.
