MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS

  • In just the first week of January, the number of people fleeing from conflict surged by more than 10,000 within KNU territory in Dooplaya.
  • More than a thousand civilians in Karenni state are seeking refuge from continuous artillery fire in the forests.
  • According to the Chinland Defense Force, the junta conducted eight airstrikes in Mindat between January 7 and 23.
  • On January 31st, the United States imposed sanctions on the junta, a move intended to block mining enterprises and energy officials.
  • The military council ordered administrators to conduct a nationwide population census starting January 9 to create updated voter lists.
