No matter how much of my rights are being violated and how dangerous it is for me, I feel proud of myself for taking the risk to help those revolutionaries who are struggling.
“I am a Chin woman and a human rights activist. I have been actively working on environmental and youth issues for about three years. I have been supporting and providing assistance as much as possible to the activists and civilians in need of help who are subjected to human rights violations since the military’s attempted coup in Myanmar. As a result of my work, the military junta searched for me and I had to move from one place to another as I was no longer safe at home. While having to go into hiding, I continued to provide support, thus experiencing the arrest and imprisonment of my friends who were working together with me. Whenever I hear such news, I am worried about my security and concerned that I may be charged and arrested. Then, I would quickly have to find and move to a new safer location. Due to the frequent moves, I face financial and survival challenges and I could barely make ends meet. Being a human rights activist in the current situation in Myanmar, I am acutely aware of the potential grave danger and risks for my family and me. However, no matter how much of my rights are being violated and how dangerous it is for me, I feel proud of myself for taking the risk to help those revolutionaries who are struggling. I very much admire members of the Civil Disobedience Movement and martyrs who have sacrificed their lives to realize their human rights. So, as to not let their efforts and sacrifices remain in vain and to regain our rights, I will endure all security risks and financial hardships and keep working towards the success of our revolution.”
