Although the Human Rights Council established the Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar in March 2017, the human rights and security situation remain deeply concerning across much of the country. The Government of Myanmar, continues to reject the establishment of the UN Fact-Finding Mission and has repeatedly stated that it will not allow investigators into the country. In this written statement Amnesty International urges the Council to call on the Government to cooperate fully with the Mission and allow it unfettered access to all parts of the country and to ensure that, in line with its mandate, the Fact-Finding Mission investigates human rights violations and abuses throughout Myanmar.
