Solidarity Message from 378 Myanmar CSOs to those protesting against Chevron in the USA

On April 16 and 17, our brothers and sisters in the USA are holding protests in San Francisco, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and Denver to pressure Chevron to stop providing revenue payments to Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), which is now under the control of the military junta.

They are pushing the US government to take action to sanction MOGE so oil and gas companies stop the payments from reaching the military regime. Payments from these companies are forecasted to be about USD 1.5 billion this year.

This would be USD 1.5 billion that enters the military junta’s hands, and would be used to commit further violence against us everyday. Oil and gas companies must stop empowering and legitimizing the military junta. The military has not yet succeeded in its coup and they must not succeed.

We, Myanmar civil society, support and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the USA. We are with you in every step you take and every shout you give this weekend to fight for our democracy and human rights.

The message has been signed by 387 Myanmar CSOs.

၂၀၂၁ ခုနှစ် ဧပြီလ ၁၆ နှင့် ၁၇ ရက်နေ့များမှာ အမေရိကန်ပြည်ထောင်စုမှ ညီအစ်ကိုမောင်နှမများသည် ဆန်ဖရန်စစ္စကို၊ ဝါရှင်တန်ဒီစီ၊ လော့်စ်အိန်ဂျယ်လိစ်၊ ဟူစတန်၊ နယူးယောက်နှင့် ဒန်ဗာမြို့များတွင် အာဏာသိမ်းစစ်ကောင်စီ၏ ထိန်းချုပ်မှုအောက်ရောက်နေသည့် မြန်မာ့ရေနံနှင့် သဘာဝဓာတ်ငွေ့လုပ်ငန်း (MOGE) ထံသို့ ဝင်ငွေများ ပေးသွင်းမှုကို ရပ်တန့်ရန် ဆန္ဒပြပွဲများ ပြုလုပ်၍ ရေနံကုမ္ပဏီ Chevron ကို ဖိအားပေးကြပါမည်။

ထိုညီအစ်ကိုမောင်နှမများက MOGE ကို စီးပွားရေး အရေးယူပိတ်ဆို့မှုများ လုပ်ဆောင်ရန် အမေရိကန်အစိုးရကို တွန်းအားပေး နေပါသည်။ ယင်းသို့လုပ်ဆောင်ခြင်းဖြင့် ရေနံနှင့် သဘာဝဓာတ်ငွေ့ကုမ္ပဏီများထံမှ စစ်အာဏာရှင်များလက်သို့ ရောက်ရှိမည့် ငွေပေးချေမှုများကို ရပ်တန့်နိုင်မည် ဖြစ်သည်။

ယခုနှစ်တွင် ထိုကုမ္ပဏီများ၏ ငွေပေးချေမှုသည် အမေရိကန် ဒေါ်လာ ၁.၅ ဘီလီယံခန့်ရှိကြောင်း ခန့်မှန်းသိရှိရသည်။ ထိုငွေများသာ အာဏာသိမ်းစစ်ကောင်စီထံသို့ ရောက်သွားပါလျှင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ ပြည်သူလူထုအပေါ် နေ့စဉ်ရက်ဆက် အကြမ်းဖက်မှုများ ဆက်လက်ကျူးလွန်ရန် အသုံးချပါလိမ့်မည်။ ရေနံနှင့် သဘာဝဓာတ်ငွေ့ကုမ္ပဏီများအနေဖြင့် စစ်အာဏာသိမ်းအုပ်စုကို စွမ်းအင်ပေးခြင်း၊ တရားဝင်ဖြစ်အောင် လုပ်ပေးခြင်းများကို ရပ်တန်းက ရပ်ရမည်။ စစ်တပ်၏ အာဏာသိမ်းမှု မအောင်မြင်သေးပါ။ အောင်မြင်၍လည်း လုံးဝ (လုံးဝ) မဖြစ်ပါ။

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ အရပ်ဘက်လူထုအဖွဲ့အစည်းများသည် အမေရိကန်မှ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ ညီအစ်ကိုမောင်နှမများကို အပြည့်အဝ ထောက်ခံသည့်အပြင် သွေးစည်းခြင်းဖြင့်လည်း အတူရပ်တည်ပါသည်။

ယခု စနေ၊ တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့များတွင် ဒီမိုကရေစီနှင့် လူ့အခွင့်အရေးအတွက် သင်တို့၏ ခြေလှမ်းတိုင်း၊ ဟစ်ကြွေးသံတိုင်းမှာ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ပါ အတူရှိနေမှာပါ။

ယခုသတင်းပေးစကားကို မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအရပ်ဘက်လူထုအဖွဲ့အစည်း ၃၈၇ ဖွဲ့မှ လက်မှတ်ရေးထိုးထားပါသည်။
