20 civil society organizations will be releasing a report analyzing the performance of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) in the context of protection of human rights defenders and shrinking civil society space in Myanmar. The report launch is timely as it takes place the day before “Human Rights Day” – the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. The report highlights several human rights cases covering the period of 2018 with key events from the first few months of 2019, while offering recommendations to reinvigorate the MNHRC for better human rights promotion and protection.

When: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, (Monday) 9 December 2019
